Practice Real-World Skills in Your Finance Courses

Throughout the finance program, your instructors will assign coursework that may help you prioritize real-world skills and well-rounded experience. In past courses, students have been able to complete the following course projects: 

  • Evaluate and analyze investment portfolio asset selection and allocation and perform basic portfolio management activities.
  • Calculate an equity valuation (stock analysis) using real-world organizations and data.
  • Take part in practical activities that enhance in-demand skills in financial analysis.
  • Incorporate financial tools, data analysis, accounting information, and economic theory into your work. 

Qualify for Certified Risk Specialist (CRS) Training

Through an alliance with Interfima, a financial services professional organization, UMGC students who complete a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, economics, business, or law may be eligible for a discounted training bundle for the Certified Risk Specialist (CRS) certification. This bundle includes CRS preparation course materials, six hours of review, and a one-hour exam for $600. UMGC alumni are also eligible to apply for the discount.
